How to Repair a Dead Car Key

Dead Key Fob Battery
Modern key fobs let us open doors, trunks, and tailgates easily without the need for a physical car key. you can try this out have a built-in key that can be used to start our vehicles. The fobs are powered by a tiny battery. If this battery dies, the key fob will no longer send a signal to be used to start the vehicle. There are several methods to fix a dead car key fob.

You may be able to revive the key fob which isn't dead by moving closer to the car. Since the majority of key fobs are RFID (radio-frequency identification) they only function at a short distance and need to be close enough for the ignition system to recognize the signal. If you can move just a few inches closer to your car, it may unlock or even begin to work.
Many car manufacturers include a backup mechanism that can be activated when the battery of the key fob is dead. For instance, the majority of Ford models come with a designated slot for the key fob which will start the engine when properly inserted. There are instructions in the owner's manual of how to locate this slot and insert the key fob correctly. Broken Key Ring
The key fob's internal chip is the one that communicates with the car's immobilizer system to start the engine. The chip could be damaged or there may be programming mistakes. If this happens your key fob will not be able to send the correct identification code, and your car won't begin. In some cases a malfunctioning transponder key could also be caused by physical damage or wear and tear to the key shell or contact pads.
Often, when a key fob begins to struggle with the immobilizer system of your vehicle and you notice specific warning indicators on the dashboard. This could include error messages, a flashing light or the key not locking or unlocking the vehicle. If you are noticing these warnings contact your local locksmith immediately to request a replacement key fob or repair.
When you carry many keys, it's easy to damage your key ring. This could cause the key fob to split in half and is among the most common causes of broken car keys. It is possible to apply super glue on both sides of the crack and gently press them together to fix the problem. Use a gel-type of glue that dries slowly so that you don't risk drips or runniness.
If this method does not work, it's important to contact an experienced locksmith immediately in order to prevent any further damage to your vehicle. A locksmith who is certified can replace or repair your key fob swiftly and will be able to make sure that the ignition lock and door lock are not affected during the process.

Broken Key Loop
One of my MK5 keyfobs has snapped off the small key loop at the top where it attaches to the keyfob. It's made of soft metal or plastic. I've punched a hole and then wet-sanded it to make it stronger however, I'm assuming that the issue isn't solved by that.
I've also attempted to wrap the broken the ring using clear tape, but it didn't look as good. This is a pity, as I use the little split rings to keep my keys in place.
If the case for the key fob is damaged, it's often possible to remove the case and replace the battery (assuming the battery isn't dead). There are kits online for this, but they generally only offer a temporary fix - it might be better to take it to a mechanic who will swap out the battery and reprogram the key fob. You can also find the new case at a locksmith or home improvement store. They're not likely to be as costly as an entirely new key fob.
